From the grape harvest to savouring
Winegrowers in South Tyrol eagerly await the special moment from September to October. A gentle autumn mist envelops the rows of vines in the morning, whereas the late summer sun gives the grapes a real boost in the afternoon. The time has come for the grape harvest.
The harvest is traditionally carried out by hand: the ripe grapes, known as ‘Weimer’ in local dialect, get carefully cut and selected by hand. After arriving in the cellars, the art of the cellar masters commences. This is where the grapes are pressed and stored in large barriques.
This painstaking work culminates in the unique South Tyrolean wines that you are able to enjoy during your dream holiday at DAS GERSTL Alpine Retreat. Our wine cellar is home to fine wines from South Tyrol and the other regions of Italy and creates a special ambience for the weekly wine tasting session with our sommelier Sonja.
You can also make use of our Winepad - your digital sommelier. Take a look at our exquisite and multifaceted selection of top wines online. Wines from the Vinschgau Valley are certified with the R30 seal and have a special status here at DAS GERSTL Alpine Retreat as part of our R30 – "Drhoam Guarantee".
