DAS GERSTL Protective Forest Project
Sustainability is more than just a promise at DAS GERSTL – it is a responsibility we live by. "With our R30 philosophy, we consistently focus on regionality, short transport routes and long-term partnerships with producers, farmers and companies within a maximum radius of 30 kilometres.
In this way, we make an active contribution to protecting our environment every day while strengthening the local economy at the same time," says the DAS GERSTL team.
The reforestation campaign "Protective Forest with DAS GERSTL", which was carried out on 11th June together with the Mals forestry station and the dedicated DAS GERSTL team, was a very special project and one close to our hearts.
The campaign was the culmination of a two-year project, "where our guests made a valuable contribution by not having their rooms cleaned every day and by consuming less water bottles – in total, this resulted in donations in the form of over 600 newly planted trees."
Together with forester Andreas and Andrea from the forestry station, the team was able to lend a hand on an area of around 5,000 m² with 400 running metres above the Höferalm pasture, at an altitude of around 2,000 metres. "We joined forces to plant Swiss stone pine, spruce and maple trees, creating a new habitat for people, animals and plants alike."
This project impressively demonstrates "how much we can achieve together – for our environment, for our region and for future generations. Because for us, sustainability means acting today so that tomorrow remains worth living."
